Guest Lecturer- Carol Sharp

22:07

Carol studied visual communication and started her carreer in photography assisting in studios due to have no previous studio experience. She mainly styled for photographers. She used this studio availability for test shoots for herself. She was intrested in 2D graphic images; shooting from above. Mainly editorial stuff such as makeup and food. What interested me about Carol was that she also styles all her shoots, as she feel it keeps her connected to the shot.

Her most recent commissions come from Sainburys, M&S flowers, Twinnings, Superdrug, Miracle gro, and Royal Mail.
Where her work may have type later added for packaging, carol has to compensate in her composition for type and she highlighted the importance of this, something which I had never considered previously.

Carol also highlighted the importance of stock images; Carol puts a lot of her images into stock to make extra money. She stressed how important it is to have licenses and to know what they mean, and the types of license which you can place on an image. Such as using solely for that company, or joint licenses where Carol can also use that image for herself.

'Memories' Commission for stamps:
Carol said it was really hard to composition the stamps in a way in which each individual piece had its own image as well as each one fitting together to form a bigger picture.
