1 to 1 tutorial with Richard
12:00
Today I had my second to last tutorial with Richard. I mainly just wanted his advice on how I can improve and if my writing was mature enough for me to achieve a similar grade to BA1a.
After reading through some of my research, Richard said I touch upon some really good ideas and theories such as insider/outside, however I need to widen my knowledge and read a lot of theory and put it into practice.
Something Richard pointed out to me and I have since adjusted in one of my images is the way the light reflected on each buckle and the difference. I hadn't noticed this before however once I had noticed I couldnt unsee this mistake and it bothered me that I hadn't noticed before. I know that as I improve as a still life photographer I will notice minor details like that and change them.
Below is a before (right) and after (left) of the difference in the right hand side buckle.
Richard gave me a list of photographers to look into as I know I need to engage with more historical practitioners. They were:
- Lewis Hine
- Dorethea Tange
- Jacques Henri Lartigue
- Henri Cartier Bresson
- Gary Winogrand
