Elaine Constantine

Elaine Constantine was born in Bury, Manchester, and it was there at the Bury Camera Club where she learnt the skills she used to become an assistant to Nick Knight. She was a pioneer to the bright, vibrant approach to documentary style photography which was a stark contrast to the grungy heroin chic trend which was gripping the 90's. Her work was about young people enjoying themselves, which she portrayed in a colourful aesthetic of youth culture.
I absolutely love all the bright colours, as it pulls together aspects from both my narrative project and my exhibition brief; the subject matter is similar to my narrative, with the aesthetic of bright colours and contrast which I love from my exhibition images. The style of imagery is something I really want to try myself.
