Nur Gürel

Nur Gürel is an istanbul based artist who manipulates existing images. Her most recent work has involved taking magazine images of 'ideal women' and painting over them, 'fattening them up'. She calls her work "Toy with Proportions" collection. She says she is 'questioning the lifestyles presented as ideal perceptions of beauty by using contrast, causing tension.'

Her work really stood out to me as something different and innovative, and also brave. They work really well and the tones and shades match lighting and existing aspects of the photograph, something which is very important when editing something post production.
